The Real Presence of Jesus Christ “So long as the prayers of supplication and entreaties have not been made, there is only bread and wine. But after the great and wonderful prayers have been completed, then the bread becomes the Body, and the wine the Blood, of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
-St. Athanasius

About First Holy Communion

  • First Holy Communion is when a person receives the eucharist for the first time.  As Catholics, we believe that the Eucharist is the true presence of Jesus Christ and the source and summit of our Christian faith.  This encounter with Jesus’ true presence – body, blood, soul, and divinity – is a very special event.  First Communion is preceded by the Sacrament of Penance, also known as confession or reconciliation.
  • Adults interested in the Catholic faith and reception of the sacraments; we offer the OCIA program on Sunday mornings. Visit our OCIA page  for more information.
  • Traditionally, Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are celebrated for the first time in the Second Grade. Sacramental preparation will take place during our Ignite classes on Sunday mornings from 9:15 am-10:45 am.  Click here  to register.
